Roses & Orchids in Tallahassee, FL

My collection of roses and orchids, and my experiences with them.
Beatrice - 1st Year - July
Beatrice so far has not been as vigorous as the other wedding rose varieties but it is growing. I'm starting to see bigger blooms. These wedding roses hold on to their petals much longer than the garden varieties.

Constance - 1st Year - July

They say that the reason they don't sell the wedding rose varieties to retailers is because they don't perform well in the garden. So far Constance has shown that it's not performing any worse than other "regular" garden roses. IMO they just want to keep them exclusive.

This rose impresses me with the summer heat performance. It is one of the healthiest roses. It blooms nonstop. I'm already thinking of replacing my Jula Child hedge with this variety.
Rose Health Update Tour /w Organic Spray Instruction - July 4th 2024

Hey viewers. As you might already know, roses don't perform well in the summer heat. It's been very hot here with the highs in the high 90s F. Most of the time my roses would be almost defoliated by now due to disease and insects. This year I've been experiencing with weekly organic spray for fungicide and insecticide, and it has shown promising result. I haven't used any chemicals for the past...
Grammatophyllum Scriptum - Leopard

One of my fav orchids, flowers last more than 2 months.

These wedding roses do last much longer than the regular DA roses.
Trio of Golden Celebration, Roald Dahl, and Moonlight in Paris

These 3 varieties were planted closely together without putting any thought in it. I didn't intent to have all 3 similar color roses to be all together like this. Rookie mistake.

This one is a bloom machine and it seems to handle shade well.
Roald Dahl

This is another monster bush. Between this and Golden Celebration I would choose GC because of the way bigger fragrant blooms.
Golden Celebration

Yup this is how GC grows here. Big giant bush with blooms at the end of its octopus canes.

I'm not sure if this rose is worth keeping. It's lagging behind every other rose. It has hard time of getting a full display because flowers shatter way too fast and it's not putting on enough buds to make up for it. I'm pretty sure it does better in cooler climate though.

How would you compare Eustacia’s health to the benchmark Olivia?
i would say Olivia is healthier than Eustacia but only by a little
Thinking of getting this rose. Do you think the petals last a decent amount of time? Some people have said they shatter quickly
they do shatter quickly, like 1 -2 days
Thank you!! Still worth buying? Does the shattering matter if there are hundreds of blooms or does the whole rose bush fade fast ? Compared to othersm thank you@@rosesintallahasseefl
@@danis3209 still worth buying, though both golden celebration and roald dahl grow octopus canes in my climate
@Roses&OrchidsinTallahassee,FL why bare bottom?
this is tree version
Could she be grown as a short climber? 4 or 5 feet or does she take more of a bushy shape?
no
I just bought this. How many hrs of sun does yours get? I font want to burn it
full sun here
Do you have your roses plants morning sun and afternoon shade?
no
It looks so lovely but a myhr scent is a deal braker for me. So unfortunate. I've got Scepter'd Isle and it stinks from afar.

Здравствуйте! Прекрасная роза! Сколько у вас посажено кустов этого сорта и на каком расстоянии! Спасибо!
夏天花瓣开翻了。
Silas vs Olivia. Your thoughts if grown in a similar climate? I’m in Texas.
I would pick Silas because it blooms way more, it has strong fragrances, and it doesn't put out octopus canes in the summer. The own downside is it's not healthy like Olivia.
I don’t know where to buy these beautiful roses. Between airpots and regular pots, which pots do you prefer for roses in containers?
I got these from Etsy. They don't always have it so you will have to check often. Many times they appeared under generic names to avoid being sue :). I'm planning to go back to the 15 Gallon Premium Nursery pots because air-pod seems to dry out way quicker, break easier (probably because i got the knockoff version), and weeds grow out of the little side holes
@@rosesintallahasseeflIs 15 gallons pot big enough for rose? This airpot is 25 gallons.
@@landang7057 the airpot is actually 25 gallon equivalent, not actual 25 gallon, i think 15 gallon should be fine, might have to repot more often but i'm fine with that, i'm not replacing them soon but when i get new roses, the 15 gallon will do
@@rosesintallahasseeflthank you for your honest response..refreshing
I adore the scent of Des
Hi, I am in zone 7a, Connecticut. The temperatures are now in upper 80 F.s mostly. Only 1 or 2 days it have been 92F./ 93F. But it has been raining once or twice every week. I don’t know why my rose leaves are yellowing a lot and also having lots of leaf burn. Few small branches have burned too along with the leaves. I have been watering them with Neptune Harvest organic seaweed once a week. I applied organic granular fertilizer once a month since April. Can you please help me understand what’s wrong with my Roses ? What should I do to cure this? Please advice.

Amazing flowers! Very beautiful ❤️❤️
Your rose garden is beautiful. I’m new to the rose garden world and I love roses. Roses can be tricky as far as growing them. How do you care for your roses? Any tips or advice is well appreciated. Thank you very much!
Spray and feed like you would with another flowers. To keep roses looking healthy, spraying is a must. One of my recent videos has the organic spray in the description that I prefer.
how do you stimulate the rose to produce so many canes? Hard prunning in the spring?
yes i do hard prune them in the spring
Beautiful and love the smell. I bought and planted first week of May and I had few blooms already
Would you say this makes for a good hedge? Is it very sparse in the winter months
hm...i would think so
Just curious if you’d allow locals to come tour your rose garden. I would be interested to come see and smell them all and happy to sit and listen to all you had to share.
i do have people come visit my gardens in the spring when it looks the best, if you are interested let me know around mid April
Jubilee Celebration Beautiful rose but very weak plant for me despite feeding and care. I believe David Austin is discontinuing this rose. Your JC is robust. What magic do you do?

How magnificent! ❤
Absolutely amazing 🌹🌹❤️❤️
May I know the title of the music with violins ? So fitted for your theme. The video and the music tugged at my heartstrings.
It's One Love by Keys of Moon. I forgot to put it in the description.
Always appreciate your videos. I bought a lot of my roses based off of some of your vids. I live in the Tennessee valley and a lot of my roses look just like yours, trying for that next flush.
